Frequently Asked Questions

#1. Does Peak Audio sell only expensive high-end equipment?

No, certainly not! One thing we spend a great deal of time doing is discovering worthwhile inexpensive audio equipment. In many ways this is much more satisfying for us than finding out that an expensive piece is in fact good. We expect that!

And please remember, our prices are extremely competitive.

We cover the full spectrum of taste and pocketbook, from entry-level to "I don't believe it!"

#2. What warranty does Peak Audio offer on new equipment?

We honour the full manufacturer's warranty for the item in question, which varies by make, of course. However, unlike virtually everyone else, we carry out the service on our own premises in our own service department, except for unusual cases. That means no shipping away with the possibility of damage or haunting warranty depots trying to get them to do something for you. Peak Audio looks after you. We will also honour warranty service on brand items of equipment we sell that you bought elsewhere, provided it has been purchased from an authorized Canadian dealer and you have a valid receipt.

#3. What about service after warranty?

We service all makes and models of audio and video equipment, and offer a 60 day guarantee on our work as well. Check out our Service page for the details.

#4. What is Peak Audio's return policy?

If you return an item as unsatisfactory to your needs within 7 days of purchase, we will, with some conditions, credit the full cost towards an item of equal or greater value.
What are the conditions? The item must be working normally with no obvious physical damage or blemishes, and packed in its original carton with all packing materials and accessories present. In addition, we expect the carton itself to have been opened reasonably -- torn off cardboard flaps or other damage mean we will deduct the cost of a new shipping carton from your credit!

Finally, special-order items are not included in our return for credit policy.

#5. What about wheelchair accessability to the store itself?

We have a special wheelchair ramp at the side of the building.

#6. What is Peak Audio's E-mail policy?

We will gladly reply to requests for pricing details for the products we carry. Please mention specific models if you can -- we cannot send out vast lists. We will not respond to e-mail enquiries for Paradigm, Paradigm Reference, Paradigm Signature, Anthem, Bryston or Simaudio Moon. These products are specifically not allowed to be sold by mailorder or Internet, and we cannot sell them to you if you are outside our dealer geographic area. Beware of dealers who profess to be able to do otherwise. Also, please don't expect us to get into detailed philosophical discussions on the benefits of this or that. We simply don't have the time to respond in writing, although we will try our best to give reasonable short answers. For more detail, give us a call instead. Better yet, pay us a visit. A lot of people have done both, and we welcome such enquiries.

#7. Are there any special features that Peak Audio can offer you?

We will, under the right circumstances, allow you to audition a piece of equipment at home before purchase, to let you discover if the product is right for you.

We will require at least a credit card guarantee, and if the item in question is a giant pair of speakers or something, bring a friend or two and a suitable vehicle! Because free delivery is not included in this service!

Obviously, we expect you to look after our goods and return them in the best of condition if they are not suitable. The advantages of trying out an item are obvious, and we merely request you do not take advantage of our trust. Peak Audio wants to help its customers to make the right choice.

#8. Does Peak Audio do installations?

Definitely! One of our staff, Joe Posiak, has installed numerous very complicated multi-room systems. He has worked with architects and owners alike, and has a great deal of experience in the field. If you have a system that needs to be professionally installed, give Joe a call.
