A Legacy of Technology & Trust
Our journey began with Miknor Audio, a Canadian distribution firm founded by Mike Merrigan Sr. while serving in administration at Mount Saint Vincent University. His son, Mike Merrigan Jr., joined the business while teaching at St. Joseph’s School in Halifax’s North End — blending technical expertise with community-driven values.
Miknor Audio was instrumental in introducing Audio Innovations electronics and JPW loudspeakers to the Canadian market, helping shape the country’s high-fidelity audio landscape with a focus on quality and accessibility.
In 1986, Miknor rebranded to Peak Audio Ltd., opening its first retail showroom in Halifax’s North End. After years of renting on Almon Street, we proudly purchased the two buildings we now occupy at the corner of Almon and Agricola — solidifying our long-standing presence in one of Halifax’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
In 2015, we rebranded again to reflect our expansion into alarm systems, boutique-style commercial services, and advanced smart home technology — a shift that began taking shape in 2004 as we embraced the future of connected living and intelligent automation.
Peak Audio Video is recognized as a leading expert in Control4, Lutron RadioRA 3, HomeWorks QSX, and AVA smart home platforms — delivering sophisticated, intuitive solutions for advanced residential projects and commercial environments across Halifax and Atlantic Canada. We also specialize in business solutions for amenity spaces, office environments, retail settings, and hospitality — helping clients create seamless, intelligent spaces that elevate comfort and performance.
Though both Mike Merrigan Sr. and Mike Merrigan Jr. are no longer with us, their vision and dedication laid the foundation for what Peak Audio Video is today. Their influence continues to guide our values, our standards, and our commitment to excellence. Every project we take on is a reflection of the legacy they built — one rooted in integrity, innovation, and heartfelt service.
Today, Peak Audio Video is fully owned and operated by Mike Merrigan III, continuing the family legacy with a modern, client-first approach. He leads a team that’s not only technically skilled, but emotionally intelligent — trusted by homeowners, developers, and commercial clients alike for their professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
